Colony Professional Learning Series:
Join ACE (Alberta Colony Educators) and The Consortium for a dynamic professional learning series explicitly designed to support educators working in Hutterite colony schools. This year-long series offers practical, hands-on sessions that address the unique needs of colony classrooms while building teacher capacity in inclusive, innovative, and responsive teaching practices.

Running every second Wednesday evening from 6:30–8:00 p.m., the sessions will explore high-impact topics including:
-
Irlen Syndrome and strategies for visual processing support
-
Using AI tools to enhance teacher planning
-
Classroom practices to support Outcomes-Based Assessment
-
Implementing the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) for language development
-

ACE Drop-In Sharing Sessions:
Hosted by ACE (Alberta Colony Educators) and The Consortium, this five-session drop-in series, moderated by Nancy Schwager, is designed to bring together teachers and educational assistants working in Hutterite colony schools for an evening of sharing, collaboration, and practical support.
Each session is focused on a specific subject area from the Alberta Program of Studies and follows a relaxed, drop-in "show-and-share" format. Participants are encouraged to bring and share lesson plans, resources, classroom routines, projects, and activities that have worked in their unique settings. This is a chance to learn with and from each other—building a collective toolkit to support student learning across colonies.
Whether you're looking for fresh ideas, have something great to share, or simply want to connect with other educators in similar contexts, you are welcome here!
September 25 (Math)
January 29 (English Language Arts and Literature)
March 26 (Science)
May 28 (Social Studies)
(Physical Education & Wellness) will be rescheduled for Fall 2026.

Let’s connect, collaborate, and strengthen teaching and learning in colony schools—one subject at a time.
